Madeline "Maddie" Rubin is a writer and a dabbler from New York City. She works across documentary and comedy as a PhD student in Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Chicago, and is a deputy editor at Chicago Review.

She is interested in people who become unusually committed to particular behaviors, beliefs, or images. She received undergraduate degrees in English and Engineering from Duke University. Her projects have appeared in The New York Times, the Los Angeles Review of Books, and The Believer.
